About Baby was born in the pursuit of the perfect baby carrier. When I gave birth to my first child Evie I bought myself a popular front style baby carrier. I won't lie to you, I loved it. I loved carrying my baby and I found that she was the most content when in constant contact with me. The carrier was convenient and my baby slept very well. However, within 4 months of using this carrier, I found that I could no longer carry her for any longer than 15 minutes without feeling pain in my shoulders and lower back. For the next month I was effectively without a carrier and this encouraged me to find a new carrier, one that could support an older baby as well as a newborn. I researched many carriers, front and back, soft and aluminium framed, heavy and light. I trialled carriers in shops. I borrowed my friend's carriers. I wasn't happy with any of them.
It was then that I found the Ergo baby carrier website. The description of this carrier met my every criteria. It is light, but made of durable, quality fabric and equipped with padded waist and shoulder straps. The design was such that the weight of my ever growing baby was positioned on my hips, not my shoulders. And most importantly of all, I learned of the benefits to my baby of wearing her in a seated position rather than hanging her by her crotch.
Now that I knew which carrier I wanted, I went in search of a distributor within Australia. It was then that I discovered that the Ergo Baby Carrier was not available in mass market baby shops. I finally got my hands on one and loved it. I thought, if I love this carrier, so will a lot of other mums and dad. And grandmas and grandpas. Hence, with the help of some other like minded parents, we went into the business of selling the Ergo Baby Carrier range and About Baby was born.
Having exclusively sold the Ergo Baby Carrier for many years, we have recenly added new products to our range that complement the Ergo baby carrier. Our new products meet our criteria of best for baby, parent tested products.
